Joint Mobilization
A manual therapy technique that involves passive movement of a joint to improve range of motion and reduce pain.
Open-Packed Position
A joint position where there is maximum joint play and minimal joint surface contact, allowing for greater mobility.
Closed-Packed Position
A joint position where the joint surfaces are maximally congruent and under maximum tension, providing stability and minimal movement.
Joint Traction
A technique in which one articulating surface is pulled away from another to reduce joint pressure and improve mobility.
Arthrokinematics
The study of the movements of joints during normal motion, including roll, glide, and spin.
Grade 1 Mobilization
Small amplitude movement performed at the beginning of the range of motion, aimed at pain relief without stretching.
PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation)
A technique used in rehabilitation that enhances both active and passive range of motion, used in therapeutic exercises.
Reciprocal Inhibition
A neuromuscular phenomenon where the contraction of one muscle group leads to the relaxation of its antagonist.
Core Stabilization
The ability of the core muscles to maintain posture and stability during movement.
Neuromuscular Control
The ability of the nervous system to activate the right muscles at the right time with the right intensity.
