Diction
The choice and use of words and phrases in speech or writing.
IPA
International Phonetic Alphabet, a system for phonetic notation.
Diphthong
A complex vowel sound that begins with one vowel sound and glides into another.
Tripthong
A vowel sound that consists of three vowel sounds within the same syllable.
N transference
A phenomenon in singing where 'n' before a consonant is pronounced as 'm'.
Tonic accent
The emphasis placed on a particular syllable or word in a phrase.
Apocopation
The omission of one or more sounds from the end of a word.
Elision
The omission of a sound or syllable when speaking.
Intervocalic s
The pronunciation of 's' between vowels, which can be voiced or unvoiced.
Glides
Vowel sounds that start at one vowel and glide to another, affecting vowel pronunciation.
Schwa
The unstressed and neutral vowel sound, represented as [ə] in IPA.
