Percent change
The change from an initial value to a final value expressed as a percentage: (Final − Initial) / Initial × 100.
Percent Increase
A positive percent change when the final value is greater than the initial value; computed as (Final − Initial) / Initial × 100.
Percent Decrease
A percent change when the final value is less than the initial value; computed as (Initial − Final) / Initial × 100.
Range
The difference between the highest and lowest values in a data set: range = highest value − lowest value.
Percentage
A way to express a part of a whole as a fraction of 100; calculated as (value ÷ total value) × 100.
Convert percent to decimal
To convert a percentage to a decimal, divide by 100 (or move the decimal point two places to the left).
Percent of a number
To find x% of a number, convert x% to a decimal and multiply by the number.
Mean / Average
Mean (average) = sum of all values ÷ number of values.
Population density
Population density = number of people ÷ total area.
