The structure of the earth
crust - outer layer of the earth
asthenosphere - where the tectonic plates are found
mantle - composed of semi-molten rock
outer core - liquid layer made up of nickel and iron
inner core - referred to as the ‘engine rooms of the earth’
Different types of crust
Oceanic crust - denser than continental crust, it can sin (on the plate that will subduction) can be renewed
Continental crust - less dense, the plate cannot subduct and cannot be renewed
