What is diffusion?
The movement of atoms or molecules from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration.
How does temperature affect the rate of diffusion?
The higher the temperature, the faster diffusion takes place.
What is Brownian motion?
The random movement of microscopic particles suspended in a gas or liquid.
What are the three states of matter?
Solid, liquid, and gas.
The state of matter depends on what two properties?
Melting Point (MP) and Boiling Point (BP).
What is sublimation?
A change of state from solid to gas.
What is desublimation/deposition?
A change of state from gas to solid.
What are the volume and shape properties of a solid?
Fixed volume and fixed shape.
What are the volume and shape properties of a liquid?
Definite volume, takes the shape of the container.
What are the volume and shape properties of a gas?
No definite shape or volume, expands to fill container.
What does the Kinetic Theory of Matter state?
All matter is made of tiny particles with spaces in between them, the tiny particles are constantly moving, and the kinetic energy of the particles depends on how fast they move.
