What is a series in Excel?

A list of labels or values that follows a pattern.

What is an example of a label series?

Days of the week or months of the year.

What is an example of a numeric series?

1, 3, 5, 7, 9.

What does Excel do when it recognizes a pattern used with the Fill Handle?

It completes the series.

What does the Fill Handle do when Excel does not recognize a series?

It copies the data.

What is the Fill Handle?

A small square in the lower-right corner of a selected cell or range.

What can the Fill Handle be used to do?

Create a series or copy data.

What appears after you drag and release the Fill Handle?

The Auto Fill Options button.

Where does the Auto Fill Options button appear?

Near the end of the completed series.

How many items do you need to enter for a days-of-the-week or months-of-the-year series?

Only the first item.

Why might you need to enter two or three values before using Fill Handle?

To establish the pattern for a custom series.

What does Ctrl+Enter do when entering the first item of a series?

Keeps the current cell active.
