Cerebrum
The largest part of the brain responsible for higher cognitive functions, perception, voluntary movement, memory, language, and consciousness.
Cerebral Cortex
The outer layer of grey matter involved in perception, cognition, language, memory, and voluntary movement.
Grey Matter
Contains neuronal cell bodies, dendrites, and synapses; responsible for information processing.
White Matter
Contains myelinated axons that connect different brain regions and facilitate communication.
Longitudinal Fissure
Separates the left and right cerebral hemispheres.
Corpus Callosum
Large bundle of myelinated fibres connecting the two cerebral hemispheres, allowing communication.
Anterior Commissure
Connects temporal lobes and olfactory regions between hemispheres.
Internal Capsule
White matter pathway carrying motor and sensory information between cortex and subcortical structures.
External Capsule
White matter tract connecting cortex with basal forebrain.
Extreme Capsule
White matter pathway involved in language processing.
Corona Radiata
Fan-shaped white matter carrying fibres to and from the cerebral cortex.
