Ghana was only recently colonized by the British whereas India had been part of the British Empire for nearly a century at this point.

Both originated from a desire for freedom from UK. Ideas both originated from western educated people.

India: More philosophical and appealed to mainly Hindus. Had been an old Idea that had regained popularity. More about cultural freedom.

Ghana: Fairly new Idea, focused on Pan-Africanism as well. More about unity.

India: overall liberal, however insanely diverse and argued upon

Ghana: More united in the sense that it was all very anti-colonial. Some socialist ideas in there as well. Remember tied to Pan- Africanism.

Methods to achieve independence similarities

Both used non-violent methods. Ghandi: Salt March (1930), Nkrumah: Positive Action Campaign (1950). Nkrumah was influenced by Ghandi to some extent.

Methods to achieve independence differences

India: Focused more on protesting and boycotts, not rlly participating in gvmt. Spanned almost 100 years starting in 1957 really.

Ghana: Made sure to participate in elections to gain some sort of influence. Ten years (1947-1957).
