Sale = thing for money. Barter = thing for thing, no money.
Sale vs Lease
Sale = buyer gets ownership/permanent possession. Lease = temporary use only, for a limited period.
Sale vs Contract for Work/Services
Sale = a finished thing handed over. Services = labour/skill performed for the other party.
Sale vs Software Licensing
Custom software = treated as a service; developer keeps copyright. Off-the-shelf software = sale of the copy + a licence; buyer never owns the copyright.
