How many trials occur, each with the same probability, until the first success is seen
(e.g. how many times would we have to throw a dice until we get a six)
When to use geometric distribution
Indefinite number of successive trials
Trials are independent of each other
Two possible outcomes (success or failure)
Probability of success is constant
