People who specialize in one type of work or trade.

Society groups based on their wealth or importance.

A religious revival that challenged the influence of church leaders and emphasized a personal connection with God.
Jonathan Edwards
A preacher important for warning colonists against ignoring religion and its teachings during the Great Awakening.
George Whitefield
A preacher who inspired stronger feelings toward God and encouraged personal religious experiences.

Someone who owns land or property.

Showing a great deal of variety.
Plantations
Large farms, usually worked by enslaved Africans, that grew cash crops.

Crops grown specifically to sell, such as rice and tobacco.

Places where government decisions and actions were made at town meetings.

Settlement founded by Roger Williams in Rhode Island, allowing freedom of religion.
Puritans
Group that believed in strict religious conformity and did not support freedom of religion.

The right to practice one's religion without interference.

A member of the Religious Society of Friends, known for advocating peace and equality.
