What is rate of reaction
is the speed at which the amount of reactants decreases or the amount of products increase. It is measured as a change in the concentration (or amunt) of reactants or products per unit time. (per second, per minute etc.
two reason for rate at any particualr point
Amount of energy the particles have
2. Frequency of collisions
For factor affect the reastion
temperature,
concentration or pressure
SUrface area
Catalyst
How those 4 factor effect
Increasing either Amount of energy the particles have or frequency of collision can increases the rate of reaction by increasing successful collisions.
How temperature can effect
As the temperature increases particles gain more energy. Which mean they will move faster. If they move faster they will collide more frequently. Collide with more enrgy. More likey to exceed activation energy.
Concentration/ pressure
How many particles per unit of volome
How C/P work
As they increases more particles per unit of volume , they will collisions more frequent, which can increases the rate of reaction.
Surface Area
Higher surface area= increase rate of reaction
Present od the Catalyst
Catalyst are the substances that speed uo a reaction without being used up in the reaction themselves. so we don;t include them in the reaction equation)
Collision Theory
For a particles to react, they have to collide with each orther with sufficient energy. (Activation energy)
