4 types of tissue
epithelial, connective, muscle, nervous
Epithelial tissue
protection of underlying structures. tightly packed, acting as barriers
Connective tissue
connects other tissues together as an extracellular matric
Muscle tissue
muscles essential for keeping us upright and letting us move and operate
three types of muscle tissue
cardiac, skeletal, smooth
cardiac muscle
stripy, straight, found in the heart walls, used to beat the heart, done without thought
skeletal muscle
striped, everyday muscle. Attatches bones and bi-tendons together. And lets us control our movements
smooth muscle
found in blood vessels and digestive tract walls, uterus. Not under conscious control
Nervous tissue
tissues from brain, spinal cords and nerves. Senses internal and external stimuli, responsible for transferring and processing this information.
