Serogical Pipette

Micropipettes

AKA variable volume pipettors
Measure small volumes: only up to 1 ml (or 1000 ul) and are the most accurate of all pipettes

Different size tips for different size pipettes
ONE TIME USE (usually) and disposable in biohazard bin
How to use a micropipette
NEVER point up

Use the smallest pipette possible without exceeding your desired amount
Example:
If you need 3ul, use a P10 micropipette.
If you need 99 uL, use the P100, but if you need 100 uL, use the P200

Tips for using the micropipettes

Tip should be directly vertical and about 1 cm into the water
Tips For Using the Micropipettes

To aspire liquid:
You should be at the first stop position before entering the liquid
Enter tip halfway into the liquid
Release plunge to obtain liquid
To dispense liquid:
Set tip into the dispense vessel
Slowly push plunger to the first stop
Raise tip slightly above the dispensed liquid, then push to the second stop
While still on the second stop, pull whole tip out of liquid
Now, you can release the plunge and dispose of your tip
