Virtues

Good habits that guide us in living as Jesus' disciples.

Cardinal Virtues

Good habits that come by our own efforts.

Prudence

A cardinal virtue that helps us make sound judgments.

Justice

A cardinal virtue defined as respecting the rights of others.

Fortitude

A cardinal virtue that enables us to act bravely in the face of troubles and fears.

Temperance

A cardinal virtue that helps us to keep our desires under control and to balance our use of material goods.

Grace

A gift from God that is a participation, or a sharing in God's life and friendship.

Sanctifying Grace

A type of grace that gives us the Theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity.

Faith

A gift from God that enables us to believe in him and all that he has revealed to us, and to respond with love for him and others.

Hope

A theological virtue that makes us trust in God's promise to share his life with us forever, helps us be certain in God's love and care, keeps us from being discouraged or giving up, and strengthens our faith in Christ.

Charity

The virtue that enables us to love God and love our neighbors as we love ourselves; it is the greatest of all virtues because all other virtues lead back to love.
