Psychiatric History - Thought Disorders (Thought possession types)

Though insertion: thoughts placed by others. Thought withdrawal: thoughts removed. Thought broadcasting: thoughts accessible to others.

Psychiatric History - Thought Disorders (Delusions definition)

False fixed belief with no evidence and isn't typical of a patient's culture or religion.

Psychiatric History - Thought Disorders (Primary delusions)

Sudden onset.

Psychiatric History - Thought Disorders (Secondary delusions)

Arising from underlying condition. Usually due to mental illness, neurological disease, substances.

Psychiatric History - Thought Disorders (Paranoid / persecutory delusion)

Belief that one is being harmed, persecuted, or conspired against.

Psychiatric History - Thought Disorders (Erotomanic delusion)

Belief that someone, usually of higher status, is in love with the person. Seen in De Clerambault's syndrome.

Psychiatric History - Thought Disorders (Delusion of doubles)

Another person, usually closely related to them, has been replaced by an exact double. Seen in Capgras syndrome.

Psychiatric History - Thought Disorders (Nihilistic delusion)

Self, others, or world does not exist or has been destroyed (e.g. body is rootten from the inside). Seen in Cotard's syndrome.

Normal perception given a delusional, often bizarre meaning. Almost pathognomonic for schizophrenia.

Depression (SIGECAPS). Sleep disturbance. Guilt / worthlessness. Appetite changes. Psychomotor retardation or agitation. Depressed mood.
