panic disorder
recurrent unexpected panic attacks, with at least four symptoms present. at least one of the attacks is followed by worry or change in behavior is hopes of avoiding future panic attacks.
agoraphobia
marked fear or anxiety about using public transportation, being in open spaces, being in enclosed places, standing in line/crowd, or being outside of home alone. these situations are feared because of thoughts that escaping is difficult, especially in the event of a panic attack. these situations are actively avoided, and has occurred for 6 months or more.
social anxiety disorder
marked fear or anxiety about one or more social situations in which the individual fears that he or she will act in a way that will be negatively evaluated. these situations are avoided, and have lasted for 6 or more months.
selective mutism
failure to speak in social situations in which it is expected. the duration is at least 1 month, and is not attributable to lack of knowledge/comfort with spoken language.
specific phobia
marked fear of anxiety about a specific object or situation (flying, heights, animal, receiving an injection, seeing blood). the phobic object or situation is actively avoided, and has lasted for 6 months or more.
separation anxiety disorder
developmentally inappropriate and excessive fear or anxiety concerning separation from those to whom the individual is attached. this has lasted for at least 6 months.
generalized anxiety disorder
excessive anxiety and worry occurring more days than not for at least 6 months. this anxiety and worry is associated with three or more symptoms.
PTSD
exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence. presence of intrusion symptoms and persistent avoidance of stimuli associated with the traumatic event. the duration of the disturbance is more than 1 month.
acute stress disorder
exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence with disturbance lasting only 3 days to 1 month after trauma exposure.
adjustment disorder
the development of emotional or behavioral symptoms in response to an identifiable stressor. once the stressor is terminated, the symptoms do not persist for more than an additional 6 months.
OCD
presence of obsession, compulsions, or both. the obsessions and compulsions are time-consuming, taking more than 1 hour per day.
body dysmorphic disorder
preoccupation with one or more perceived deficits or flaws in physical appearance that are not observable or appear slight to others. the individual has performed repetitive behaviors in response to the appearance concerns.
major depressive disorder
five or more symptoms present during the same 2-week period and represent a change from previous functioning. there has never been a manic or hypomanic episode.
persistent depressive disorder
depressed mood for most of the day, for more days than not, for at least 2 years. during the 2-year period of the disturbance, the individual has never been without symptoms for 2 months at a time. there has never been a manic or hypomanic episode.
premenstrual dysphoric disorder
in the majority of menstrual cycles, at least five symptoms are present in the final week before the onset of menses, and begins to improve with a few days after the onset of menses.
other specific depressive disorder
symptoms characteristic of a depressive disorder but do not meet the full criteria for any of the disorders in the depressive disorders class. this is used in situations in which the clinician chooses to communicate the specific reason that the presentation does not meet the criteria.
unspecific depressive disorder
symptoms characteristic of a mood disorder but not at the time of the evaluation meet the full criteria for any of the disorders in the bipolar or depressive disorders diagnostic class.
bipolar I
at least one lifetime manic episode not better explained by schizoaffective disorder or other related disorders.
bipolar II
criteria have been met for at least one hypomanic episode, and there has never been a manic episode.
cyclothymic disorder
for at least 2 years, there have been numerous periods with hypomanic symptoms that do not meet criteria for a hypomanic episode, and numerous periods with depressive symptoms that do not meet criteria for a major depressive episode. The symptoms have been present for at least half the 2-year period, and the individual has not been without symptoms for more than 2 months at a time.
ADHD
a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity that interferes with functioning or development, and have persisted for at least 6 months. several inattentive or hyperactive-impulsive symptoms were present prior to age 12..
autism spectrum disorder
persistent deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts. symptoms must be present in the early developmental period, although they may not fully manifest until social demands exceed limited capacities.
intellectual developmental disorder
a disorder with onset in the developmental period that includes both intellectual and adaptive functioning deficits in conceptual, social, and practical domains.
anorexia nervosa
restriction of energy intake relative to requirements, leading to a significantly low body weight. there is an intensive fear of gaining weights, and a disturbance in the way in which one’s body weight or shape is experienced. specify whether restricting or binge/purge type.
binge eating disorder
recurrent episodes of binge eating
bulimia nervosa
recurrent episodes of binge eating, accompanied by recurrent inappropriate compensatory behaviors to prevent weight gain. these behaviors both occur on average once a week for 3 months.
alcohol use disorder
a problematic pattern of alcohol use, as manifested by 2 symptoms occurring within a 12-month period.
