Material Handling

refers to the process of moving, controlling, protecting, as well as storing materials or components manufacturing

7
New cards

Material Handling

process of preparing the necessary items for assembly

8
New cards

Material Handling

a crucial process because all the materials should be handled well in order to keep them safe, reach their destination safely, and maintain their quality and condition

9
New cards
  • Able to determine appropriate distance to be covered

  • Facilitate the reduction in material damage as to improve quality

  • Reducing overall manufacturing time by designing efficient material movement

  • Improve material flow control

  • Creation and encouragement of safe and hazard-free work condition

  • Improve productivity and efficiency

  • Better utilization of time and equipment

Main objectives of material handling

10
New cards
  • Establish a clear understanding of output requirements for the overall process as well as each step in the process

  • Focus on prevention of problems, not correction. Prevention is much less costly

  • Ensure that each process step guarantees that its output is correct and complete; mistake-proof where feasible

Principles in Material Handling Process

11
New cards
  1. Perform 5S in the work area

  2. Prepare necessary check sheet

  3. Prepare all materials and tools needed in the process

  4. Turn on fluorescent lamp and wear your PPE at all times
