reshifted the OT viewpoint from the medical model to the origin in the field, expanded the continuum of "play to work" for OT practice
- Occupation is one way people occupy time, find meaning, and establish the ability to contribute productivity to society through roles.

evident when a person is capable of seeking, undertaking, and adopting occupations that meet one's personal needs as well as those of society, healthy person has a variety of roles and occupations
Dysfunction for Occupational Behavior
occurs when a person experiences disruption in occupational behavior that could relate to illness or disability/ person lacks occupational fulfillment, competency

MOP states that therapeutic change can be enacted because a person can be motivated to alter their occupational behavior if they find something rewarding, worthy, or meaningful: Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs: intrinsic motivation
