Muscle Fibres
Cells that contract to produce force, found in skeletal muscles.
Connective Tissue
A tissue that binds muscle fibres together and forms tendons.
Tendons
Connective tissue that attaches muscles to bones.
Fascial Compartment
A grouping of skeletal muscles that share the same nerve supply, such as flexors or extensors.
Motor Unit
A single motor neuron and all the muscle fibres it innervates.
Skeletal Muscle
Muscle attached to the skeleton that enables voluntary movement.
Aponeurosis
A flat, sheet-like tendon connecting muscles to parts they move.
Agonist
The primary muscle responsible for movement during an action.
Antagonist
A muscle that opposes the action of an agonist.
Synergist
Muscles that assist the agonist in performing its action.
Erector Spinae
A muscle group that helps maintain posture and resists gravity.
Central Nervous System (CNS)
The part of the nervous system consisting of the brain and spinal cord.
Peripheral Nervous System (PNS)
The nervous system outside the CNS, including cranial and spinal nerves.
Endoneurium
A connective tissue layer surrounding individual nerve fibres.
Epineurium
The outermost layer of connective tissue surrounding a nerve.
Perineurium
The connective tissue that surrounds a fascicle of nerve fibres.
