Name and characteristics?

Aorta:

-Largest artery in the body(branches from your hearts left ventricle)

-Travels from chest→belly→legs

-In belly is called abdominal aorta

What is an AAA, what are the causes, and what are the symptoms?

AAA: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

→A bulge forms in the Aorta(Which could burst). Atherosclerosis-Plaque, thrombosis, or fat build up over time- will occlude and weaken the artery walls. Top 10 cause of death in men over 50!

Caused By:High Blood Pressure, Smoking, Plaque

Symptoms: Sudden belly/back pain, ,dizziness, shock

What is the foregut?

From Distal Esophagus down to proximal half of 2nd part of duodenum.

What is the Midgut?

From distal half of 2nd part of duodenum down to proximal 2/3 of transverse colon.

What is the hindgut?

from distal 1/3 of transverse colon to rectum

What are the branches of the abdominal aorta?

SCIM:Celiac Trunk, Superior Mesenteric Artery, Inferior Mesenteric Artery, Middle Sacral Artery(don’t need to know)

celiac trunk(feeds the foregut), supplies the stomach, liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, and duodenum, the branches are L. Gastric A., Splenic A., Common Hepatic Arteries.
