Name and characteristics?
Aorta:
-Largest artery in the body(branches from your hearts left ventricle)
-Travels from chest→belly→legs
-In belly is called abdominal aorta
What is an AAA, what are the causes, and what are the symptoms?
AAA: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
→A bulge forms in the Aorta(Which could burst). Atherosclerosis-Plaque, thrombosis, or fat build up over time- will occlude and weaken the artery walls. Top 10 cause of death in men over 50!
Caused By:High Blood Pressure, Smoking, Plaque
Symptoms: Sudden belly/back pain, ,dizziness, shock
What is the foregut?
From Distal Esophagus down to proximal half of 2nd part of duodenum.
What is the Midgut?
From distal half of 2nd part of duodenum down to proximal 2/3 of transverse colon.
What is the hindgut?
from distal 1/3 of transverse colon to rectum
What are the branches of the abdominal aorta?
SCIM:Celiac Trunk, Superior Mesenteric Artery, Inferior Mesenteric Artery, Middle Sacral Artery(don’t need to know)
Name, Job, and Branches?
celiac trunk(feeds the foregut), supplies the stomach, liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, and duodenum, the branches are L. Gastric A., Splenic A., Common Hepatic Arteries.
Name, Location, And Job?
Left Gastric Artery, Celiac Trunk, Supplies the Stomach(Lesser curvature) and Esophagus(lower part-just below diaphragm)
Name, location, and functions
Splenic Artery, Celiac Trunk, Supplies Spleen(Main function), stomach(Via. Short gastric artery), and pancreas.
Name, Location, And Function?
Common Hepatic Artery, Celiac Trunk, Supplies Proper Hepatic Artery;Right Gastric Artery, Right hepatic artery(Cystic artery(gallbladder)), and left hepatic artery, ALSO Supplies the Gastroduodenal Artery; Superior Pancreaticodoudenal Artery(Pancreas, duodenum), Right Gastric Artery
Label Parts
Name, Functions, Branches, and real life case?
SMA(superior mesenteric artery), Supplies Lower Duodenum, Pancreas, and 2/3 of transverse colon, Branches; middle colic, right colic, ileocolic, jejuneal and ileal arteries, Case; Nutcracker Syndrome(Left renal vein gets squished between aorta and SMA, rare, young adults 20s-30s, caused by severe weightloss and developmental abdnormalities, symptoms; hematuria, flank pain, renal hypertension, renal vein thrombosis)
Name, Functions, Branches, and cases
inferior mesenteric artery, supplies; descending colon, rectum, and 1/3 of transverse colon, Branches; left colic, superior rectal A., Sigmoid Branches, Horshoe Kidney(kidneys fuse during development, gets stuck under the IMA when they are trying to move from pelvis to upper abdomen, caused by developmental abnormalities, symptoms; kidney stones, infection, trouble draining urine(hydronephrosis))
