Socialization

The lifelong process in which people learn the attitudes, value and behaviors appropriate for members of a particular culture. INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION!!

Figuration

Primary socialization

takes place from birth through adolescent and is guided by primary caregivers, educators and peers

Secondary socialization

Assigned to a person without regard for unique characteristics biological in origin, but significant because of the meaning being them.

 a status that dominates other status and thereby determines a persons general position in society.  

Culture

 all the learned, knowledge, beliefs, values, laws, language custom ans symbols in society.

Cultural Universal

 all societies have developed certain common practices and beliefs. Adaptations to meet essential human needs,such as the need for food, shelter and clothing.        

Ethnocentrism

Tendency to assume that ones own culture and way of life represents what or normal pr that is superior to all.  

Cultural Relativism

recognizing that other cultures have practices that have developed from different contexts; placing priority on understanding other cultures rather than dismissing them as strange.
