VPN
A Virtual Private Network required for students traveling outside the U.S. to assign a U.S.-based IP address for Blackboard and email access.
Grade Distribution Categories
Weighted as Quizzes (25%), Discussion (25%), Project (25%), and Final (25%).
Rounding Rule
Final grades are rounded up if the decimal is .5 or higher (e.g., 89.5 is recorded as 90) but not if it is lower (e.g., 89.4 remains 89).
Work Ethic Traits
Ten identified essential traits: appearance, attendance, attitude, character, communication, cooperation, organizational skills, productivity, respect, and teamwork.
Work Ethics Grade Scale
A grading system from 0 to 3 where 0=Unacceptable, 1=Needs Improvement, 2=Meets Expectations, and 3=Exceeds Expectation.
Blackboard Orientation
A mandatory review and assessment that serves as part of the no-show assignment for all classes.
Discussion Participation Score (65%)
The grade earned by completing only a single post in the discussion board.
Discussion Participation Score (70%)
The minimum score earned for making a post and engaging with one fellow student.
Instructor Response Timeline
The instructor will answer email messages within a 24 hour period and post grades within 24 hours of the assignment due date.
Proctored Event
A required in-person assignment where students must present a photo ID; in this course, the Final Exam is the only proctored activity.
Academic Honesty Policy
A policy where any form of dishonesty results in a grade of zero (0) for the work, with a second offense potentially causing expulsion.
No-Show Policy
The requirement to officially confirm enrollment by attending class or completing an academic assignment within the first five days of the semester.
