Particulate Diagrams of Matter
A set of visual diagrams representing different types of matter (element, compound, homogeneous mixture, or heterogeneous mixture) and their physical states (solid, liquid, gas).

Particulate Diagram Data Table
A classification table used to record the type or types of matter, phase (states), and reason or justification for diagrams A through L.
Diagram A
A particulate diagram representing a compound in the gas phase, composed of identical molecules containing three bonded atoms each, distributed throughout the container.
Diagram B
A particulate diagram representing a compound in the gas phase, composed of identical diatomic molecules made of two different types of atoms spread throughout the container.
Diagram C
A particulate diagram representing a mixture in the gas phase, consisting of unbonded single atoms of two different types moving freely.
Diagram D
A particulate diagram representing a mixture in the gas phase, containing isolated single atoms and diatomic molecules dispersed throughout the container.
Diagram E
A particulate diagram representing an element in the solid phase, consisting of identical single atoms packed tightly in an ordered structure at the bottom of the container.
Diagram F
A particulate diagram representing an element in the gas phase, consisting of identical diatomic molecules formed from a single element type.
Diagram G
A particulate diagram representing a mixture of an element and a compound in the gas phase, filling the space of the container.
Diagram H
A particulate diagram representing an element in the liquid phase, consisting of single atoms unorganized at the bottom of the container.
Diagram I
A particulate diagram representing a mixture in the liquid phase, consisting of two different types of single atoms intermingled at the bottom of the container.
Diagram J
A particulate diagram representing an element in the solid phase, showing packed atoms at the bottom with individual atoms floating above.
Diagram K
A particulate diagram representing an element in the solid phase, composed of identical atoms tightly packed in a regular arrangement at the bottom.
Diagram L
A particulate diagram representing a mixture or system containing both a solid layer at the bottom and gas phase diatomic molecules floating above.
Types of Matter
The four classifications of matter evaluated in the worksheet: element, compound, homogeneous mixture, and heterogeneous mixture.
Phases of Matter
The three physical states of matter identified in particulate diagrams: solid, liquid, and gas.
