Revolute Joint
This type of joint constrains the relative motion of two bodies to rotation along one common axis. It offers one rotational degree of freedom.
Slider Joint
This type of joint (a.k.a., prismatic joint) allows a linear sliding movement between two bodies. It offers one translational degree of freedom.
Cylindrical Joint
This type of joint allows two rigid bodies to translate and rotate freely. It offers one translational and one rotational degrees of freedom parallel to each other.
Pin-Slot Joint
This type of joint allows two rigid bodies to translate and rotate freely. It offers one translational and one rotational degrees of freedom orthogonal to each other.
Planar Joint
This type of joint allows an object resting on another object to slide and spin. It offers two translational and one rotational degrees of freedom.
Ball Joint
This type of joint allows free rotation in two planes while preventing translation in any direction. It offers three rotational degrees of freedom.
