33
New cards

What are the 3 main questions you need to answer for decode?

What is the content focus?

34
New cards

What does ‘command words’ mean?

35
New cards

What is needed for ‘conceptual focus’?

Identify the historical concept, e.g. change. Then expand on it by comparing it to different periods throughout the war

36

38
New cards

How do you develop your answer?

Make sure that you explain and support the points you make.

39
New cards

How do you demonstrate complex thinking?

e.g. Did everyone experience the same impact? Do not give the impression that change affected everyone in the same way.

How fast did change occur? Did life change immediately or gradually? Be precise. Do not give the impression that change was instant.

40

Decide how to organise your answer. This question is worth lots of marks so make sure that you plan it carefully

46
New cards

What is needed for ‘develop’ on this question?

48
New cards

What are some top tips for ‘decode’ on Q6?

  1. Note the dates - make sure that you focus on the time period stated in the question. You will waste time and gain no marks if you go beyond the date boundaries.

  2. Note the two bullet points - you need to evaluate the importance of both bullets.

49

Plan your answer using three paragraphs. Aim to write one paragraph on each of the bullet points. Then add a conclusion in which you reach your final judgement (in the case of our question

50

What are some top tips for ‘develop’ on Q6?

  • Prioritise. Did some events contribute more than others ? What pattern do you notice ?

  • Link. What links have you already established between the contributory factors ? What patterns can you see ? Did economic problems make the Nazis more appealing ?

  • Do not say something was important - prove it was ! Explain how it had a significant impact and give examples to prove your point.

51
New cards

What is needed for ‘demonstrate’ on Q6?

  • In the case of this question, do more than simply list the reasons why Hitler and the Nazis were appealing or what the economic problems were. For each problem and action, think about the consequences.

  • Aim to demonstrate that you can prioritise problems and actions ( the two factors ) and see links between them. Were some causes / consequences more important than others ? Did one event or development influence other events ?

52
New cards

Q6: Should you look for how the 2 factors are linked?
