Theme Park
A group of entertainment attractions, rides, and other events in a location intricately themed to a certain subject or group of subjects for the enjoyment of large numbers of people.
Walt Disney
The individual credited with inventing the "theme park" concept with Disneyland, creating a family-friendly environment where every element was completely under control.
Dinosaur World
A chain of three outdoor dinosaur theme parks in the US (Plant City, Florida; Glen Rose, Texas; and Cave City, Kentucky) featuring over 150 life-size dinosaur sculptures.
Sea World
A US chain of marine mammal parks and oceanariums featuring captive orca, sea lion, and dolphin shows as well as zoological displays.
National Park
A reserve of natural, semi-natural, or developed land that a sovereign state declares or owns, most commonly serving as a natural park.
Adventure Theme
A theme type characterized by excitement, action, frightening or mysterious elements, and thrill rides.
Futurism Theme
A theme type focused on advances in society and technology, robotics, science fiction, and the exploration of science.
International Theme
A theme type featuring flavors of the world, international villages, miniature replicas, and scenic spots.
Nature Theme
A theme type focusing on animals, floral displays, marine life, and natural wonders.
Fantasy Theme
A theme type incorporating animation, cartoon characters, fairytales, magic, myths, and legends.
History and Culture Theme
A theme type featuring aboriginal or cultural heritage elements, cultural villages, and historic ambience.
Movies Theme
A theme type based on motion pictures, show business, comedy, and stunt shows.
Pro-active management
A management style where staff respond more quickly and effectively than competitors to changes in the business environment.
Camping
A tourist activity consisting of sleeping in a portable shelter, such as a tent or trailer, and traveling with equipment designed for outdoor living.
Pop-up tent
A round tent with a framework that deploys automatically.
Dome tent
A semicircular tent that can be moved without being taken down once it has been pitched.
Stake loop
Fabric circles attached to a tent’s outer edge through which stakes are driven to anchor the tent to the ground.
Rainfly
A piece of waterproof canvas that covers the inner tent to provide protection from rain and an extra layer of insulation.
Sewn-in floor
A canvas floor stitched into the bottom of a tent to protect the interior from ground dampness and runoff.
Mummy Sleeping Bag
A sleeping bag shaped like the body that includes a part to cover the head and neck with an opening for the face.
Vacuum bottle
A container used to hold liquids or semisolid foods at a desired temperature.
Glamping
A style of luxury accommodations that joins the words "camping" and "glamorous," offering unique outdoor experiences without traditional gear setup.
Spargere
The Latin word from which "spa" originated, meaning to sprinkle or moisten.
Salus Per Aquam
A Latin expression linked to the word "spa" meaning "health through water."
Microdermabrasion
A spa treatment using creams and machines to remove dead cells and reduce the appearance of small wrinkles, lines, and blemishes.
Urban Spa
Also known as a Day Spa, typically located in city centers or hotels and providing only day treatments.
Ayurveda Spa
A spa focused on the oldest known health practice in the world, meaning "knowledge for long life," using prescriptive treatments based on physician consultations.
Thalassotherapy Spa
A spa that uses the healing properties of the sea and marine environment for well-being, derived from the Greek words "thalasso" (sea) and "therapia" (treatment).
Gambling
The betting of money or material value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the intent of winning additional money or goods.
Gaming
A term used for gambling when it is permitted by law.
Baccarat
A popular table game, especially in Macau, where the objective is to get a hand value close to 9.
Blackjack
A popular table game in the USA where the goal is to get a hand value close to 21.
Casino tokens
Small discs made of metal, plastic, or clay (also known as chips, checks, or cheques) used in lieu of currency in casinos.
Floor people
Casino employees who supervise 2 to 4 tables to avoid cheating, resolve disputes, and enforce good dealing practices.
Pit boss
A manager who oversees a group of gaming tables (a pit) and manages the floor people reporting from those tables.
