The study of how human activity affects or is affected by the Earth's surface.

What is a map projection?
A method used to represent the curved surface of the Earth on a flat map. All projections distort at least one of the following: shape, area, distance, or direction.
Explain 'Scale' in geography.
The relationship between the portion of Earth being studied and Earth as a whole. It can be represented as a fraction, ratio, or graphic bar scale. For example, a large-scale map shows a smaller area in greater detail, while a small-scale map shows a larger area with less detail.

Geographic Information System. A computer system for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on Earth's surface. It allows for the analysis of spatial data.
What is Remote Sensing?
The acquisition of information about an object or phenomenon without making physical contact with the object, such as through aerial photography or satellite imagery.
What is GPS?
Global Positioning System. A satellite-based navigation system used to determine exact locations on Earth.
What are reference maps?
Maps that show the location of places and geographic features, used for navigation for example. Examples include physical and political maps.
What are thematic maps?
Maps that show specific topics (e.g., population distribution, climate, income levels) and display spatial patterns of a particular variable.
