Color of a flame goes…
from white to orange to red as the flame cools
Color
gives information about the temperature of the flame
Orange flames range from
around 1100ºC to 1200ºC
White flames
much hotter and range from 1300ºC to about 1500ºC
Natural light has a color temperature of:
about 6500K or 0.42 micron
Maximum solar emission wavelength
0.475 μm
What color is this emission? What do we see?
It corresponds to the blue color, but we do not see blue, we see the sun's color to be yellow and white because a lot of radiation is emitted at wavelengths larger than the wavelength of the peak irradiance… blue color is overtaken by the cumulative effect of all the other colors
