Cloud Computing
Stored information and data held on the internet rather than the physical computer
-use of remote networks/servers that connect via the internet
Elasticity
Degree of how much a computer or other technology can adapt to changing needs or requirements of a user
-Increase or decrease in the use of memory
-scaled up or down
Scapability
A system can deal with a larger work load when it receive stronger hardware
-New CPU, Graphics Card
E-Business
Conducting of business transitions purely through the cloud
- allows for wider reach geographically and is more efficient
-work can be done without the need for direct employee action
-companies can scale hardware
Private Cloud
Model for cloud access hosted and managed by a single service-providing entity and is meant to be used by a single business or group
-good for information that requires high levels of security
- hosted by a singular entity
-connectivity over private network
Public Cloud
Model for cloud access run by a third party who manages and runs the internet hardware for you or your company
-Cheaper than alternative
- hosted by a Cloud-Service Provider
-Good for information that is not highly sensitive
Hybrid Cloud
Combination of both private and public Clouds to reap the benefits of both
-Relatively cost efficient in comparison to Private Clouds
-maintains security of a private network
-
-Can keep sensative information in Private cloud and move it to the public
Digital Divide
Physical and mental divide between people who do have access and skills with the internet
- Some lack the technology to run cloud computing
-Some lack the ability to understand cloud computing tech
Algorithm Bias
Technology algorithms which become biased against genders, ethnicities, ect due to their programing
- w/o diversity of people used in the AI training, the information of the algorithms becomes heavily biased
-EX: was not programmed to recognize african Americans
-EX: For hiring only looks at old statistics but the predominant group in the company's history was predominantly white
Cloud Sourcing
Companies built on allowing low skilled workers to provide goods and services individually running the service on their own terms.
- Individuals can work low skill jobs via the internet
Crowd Funding
Individuals using the internet, requesting masses for some sort of donations
Citizen Science
Research which uses the internet to give out surveys for regular masses to take
Redundancy
the inclusion of extra components so that a system can continue to work even if individual components fail, for example by having more than one path between any two connected devices in a network.
Open-Source Software
noncommercial software shared freely and developed collectively on the internet
