step 1 ROLE

step 2 LOCATION

WILL IT BE VIRTUAL / PHYSICAL IN VENTILATED SPACE

step 3 - CONNECT TO NETWORK

physical - plug in

virtual - assign to virtualisation software

step 4 - ASSIGN IP

use a static ip or use DHCP

step 5 - CHOOSE NETWORK SETTINGS

• subnet mask

• default gateway

• DNS address

step 6 - INSTALL ROLE

for web server install apache

step 7 - firewall rules

-block unused ports for added security

-install antivirus

-open port 80 /443 for web server

task 8 - join server to domain

on AD, join to domain so It can communicate to domain resources

step 9 - test

ping

step 10 - monitor

set up regular updates and have backup image of the server config
