Skeletal muscle tissue
Striated muscle tissue under voluntary (conscious) control, composed of straight cylindrical cells where each cell is multinucleated.
Cardiac muscle tissue
Striated muscle tissue under involuntary (unconscious) control, composed of short branched cells with large single nuclei and intercalated discs.
Smooth muscle tissue
Non-striated muscle tissue under involuntary (unconscious) control, composed of short slender cells with a central nucleus.
Neurons
Nervous tissue cells characterized by a large darkly stained nucleus, surrounded by lightly stained cytoplasm, appearing to have branching extensions ("arms").
Neuroglia
Supportive cells in nervous tissue whose nuclei appear as small darkly stained "dots" under a microscope.
Epidermis
The superficial layer of the skin.
Dermis
The deep layer of the skin located directly beneath the epidermis.
Hypodermis
A subcutaneous tissue layer that anchors the skin to underlying tissues, though it is not part of the skin itself.
Intercalated disc
A specialized microscopic boundary structure located between short branched cells in cardiac muscle tissue.
Meissner's corpuscle
A cutaneous tactile receptor in the skin that functions as a light touch receptor.
Pacinian corpuscle
A cutaneous receptor located in the skin that functions as a pressure receptor.
Free nerve ending
A cutaneous sensory receptor in the skin that functions as a temperature and pain receptor.
Melanocytes
Pigment-producing cells located in the deep region of the epidermis that generate melanin.
Arrector pili muscle
A band of smooth muscle attached to a hair follicle in the skin.
Stratum basale
The deepest layer of the epidermis, adjacent to the dermal papillae of the dermis.
Stratum corneum
The most superficial layer of the epidermis, consisting of flattened cornified cells.

Neuron model
An anatomical model depicting a neuron cell body with a central nucleus, branching dendrites, and an elongated axon.

Skin model
An anatomical model demonstrating the layers of the skin (epidermis, dermis), hypodermis, hair follicles, glands, blood vessels, and nervous receptors.
