What is the definition of 'Lead' in ECG context?
A lead is a view of the electrical activity of the heart from a particular angle across the body.
What are the normal limits for heart rate classified as Normal Sinus Rhythm?
60 – 100 beats per minute.
What is Sinus Bradycardia?
A heart rate less than 60 beats per minute with a regular rhythm.
What do the P waves represent in an ECG?
Atrial depolarization (contraction).
What are premature atrial contractions (PACs)?
Early heartbeats that start in the atria instead of the SA node.
What is Atrial Fibrillation characterized by?
Irregular rhythm, no detectable P waves, and a ventricular rate that may vary.
What is the treatment for symptomatic Atrial Fibrillation?
Oxygen, Diltiazem, Beta-blockers, Digoxin, Cardioversion.
What defines Ventricular Tachycardia?
A rhythm of 150-250 beats per minute with no P waves, and QRS greater than 0.12 seconds.
What does Torsades de Pointes often follow?
A prolonged QT interval resulting from medications or diseases.
What is the first-line treatment for pulseless Ventricular Fibrillation?
Begin high-quality CPR immediately and use a defibrillator.
How should you treat an Asystole rhythm?
Confirm rhythm in two leads, start high-quality CPR, and provide oxygen. No defibrillation is indicated.
What is the role of a pacemaker?
To maintain adequate heart rate and cardiac output when SA/AV nodes fail.
What is Synchronized Cardioversion?
A timed electrical shock delivered to the heart to restore normal rhythm without risking ventricular fibrillation.
What is a First Degree AV Block characterized by?
Regular rhythm with PR interval greater than 0.20 seconds.
What is the rate for Junctional Rhythm?
Typically between 40 to 60 beats per minute, can vary.
What is fine Ventricular Fibrillation?
A chaotic rhythm with no distinct pattern, where the heart is not pumping blood effectively.
