Catholic teaching on homosexuality

• Homosexual orientation is not a sin.

• Homosexual activity is a sin as it cannot lead to procreation since procreation can only take place between the union of man and woman and in the eyes of the Church the purpose of sex is to procreate

• Homosexuals are expected to live a life of chastity - “Homosexual persons are called to chastity.” CCC 2359

• Homosexuals must be respected and treated with dignity. Any form of discrimination against them is unacceptable and should be fought against.

• Don’t discriminate homosexuals since they were created the way God wanted them to be “God created humankind in His own image” Genesis 1:27

ARGUMENTS FOR

• It isnt right to forbid any action that is a physical expression of love

• Homosexuals are made in the way God wanted

• Evidence of homosexual activity in the animal kingdom

ARGUMENTS AGAINST

• God made male and female to have children and complete each other

• The natural order represented male and female to unite

• marriage is described as a union between man and woman (Genesis 2:24).
