Implementation
The step that initiates or completes planned actions or nursing interventions.
Direct Interventions
Treatments performed through interactions with patients.
Indirect Interventions
Treatments performed away from the patient but on behalf of the patient or a group of patients.
Independent nursing interventions
Nurse-initiated interventions that do not require direction or orders from other health care providers.
Dependent nursing interventions
Interventions that require orders from physicians or nurse practitioners.
Collaborative nursing interventions
Interventions that require the knowledge, skill, and expertise of numerous health care providers.

Critical Thinking
The process of using good judgment and decision making before interventions are performed.

Evaluation
The final step of the nursing process involving examination of a condition or situation and judgment as to whether change has occurred.

Expected outcomes
The changes that occur in response to nursing care.
Person-Centred Goals
Goals established to meet individual patient needs and expectations.
Nurse's Competence
Having current knowledge and skills to carry out nursing interventions effectively.
Documentation
The process of recording pertinent patient information and nursing actions.
Collaboration
Working with other health care professionals to enhance nursing care and patient outcomes.
Cognitive skills
Mental skills used for processing information and making decisions.
Interpersonal skills
The skills used to interact and communicate effectively with patients and team members.
Psychomotor skills
Physical skills required to perform nursing tasks and procedures.
