Antigen
An antigen any substance that can trigger an immune response from the body, such as a fever or the production of antibodies
Antibody
An antibody is a protein molecule produced by the immune system in response to the presence of a foreign substance, called an antigen
Innate immunity
The innate immune system is the body's first line of defense against intruders. It responds in the same way to all germs and foreign substances.
Adaptive immunity
the part of the immune system that provides a specific, long-lasting defense against pathogens by "remembering" them after exposure
Strep throat
Bacteria, Droplet transmission (from coughing, sneezing)
Tetanus
Bacteria, Indirect contact (through contaminated wounds, usually from soil or objects)
Ringworm
Fungus, direct or indirect contact (with infected skin, objects, surfaces)
Influenza
Virus (Influenza), Droplet and airborne transmission
Cold sore herpes 1
Virus, Direct contact (saliva, skin to skin contact)
Pneumonia:
Bacteria or virus, Droplet transmission, Direct or indirect transmission
Athletes foot
Fungus, Direct or indirect contact
Zika
Virus, Vector- borne, sexually
Cholera
Bacteria, Waterborne or food borne
Incubation Stage
The time between exposure to the pathogen and the appearance of the first symptoms. Symptoms are usually vague or not yet noticeable.
Prodromal Stage
Early, often mild or nonspecific symptoms begin (like fatigue or a slight fever).
Illness Stage
The period when symptoms are most severe, and the pathogen is actively multiplying.
Decline Stage
The immune system begins to successfully fight off the pathogen, and symptoms start to lessen.
Convalescence Stage
Recovery phase; the body returns to normal, and energy levels are restored.
