A leader who lies and tricks people to get power.

Groups of wise, older leaders who make laws.

Consuls

Two presidents who rule together for 1 year.

Dictator

A single ruler with total power.

Divine right

The belief where kings say God gave them power.

Absolute monarchy

A king with total power who can do whatever they want.

Magna Carta

A document from 1215 that said kings must also obey the law.

Parliament

An assembly or body that must approve taxes.

King Charles I

Ruler who believed in divine right and whose head was cut off by the people.
