Longitude

Lines that measure distance east or west of the Prime Meridian.

Prime Meridian

The line at 0° longitude.

Equator

The line at 0° latitude.

Map Scale

The relationship between distances on a map and real life.

Region

An area with shared characteristics.

Formal Region

A region defined by official boundaries.

Functional Region

A region connected by a common activity or function.

Perceptual Region

A region based on people's beliefs or opinions.

Human Geography

The study of people and their activities across Earth's surface.

Physical Geography

The study of Earth's natural features.

Place

A specific location with physical and human characteristics.

Site

The physical characteristics of a location.

Situation

A place's location relative to other places.

Movement

The flow of people, goods, ideas, or information.

Diffusion

The spread of ideas, culture, or technology from one place to another.

Relocation Diffusion

The spread of ideas through migration.

Expansion Diffusion

The spread of ideas without people moving.

Culture

The beliefs, customs, and traditions of a group.

Landscape

The visible features of an area shaped by nature and people.
