Catharine McCauley was born in Dublin Ireland. She was raised catholic and lived it out through her life. Her parents died when she was 20 and after she went to live whit her relatives that were not catholic. Catharine focused on service work, social services for poor women and educating women. She built the house of mercy that served poor girls that needed a shelter.

Consider the five critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy---earth, immigration, racism, women and nonviolence. Which of those concerns is most important to you? Why? What have you done or could you do to address this concern?

The critical concern that is most important to me is the earth. This is the most important critical concern to me because if we don't take care of the earth then when I'm older and younger generations are older there will be a lot of problems. I think its important to take care of the earth now so that later generations do not have to deal with the backlash if we don't. I take care of the earth by recycling my cans and other things at school and home. Another thing I do is when I drive my car I turn it off while sitting for a long time such as parking lots.

Discuss two ideas/lessons/experiences you found most valuable and two that were most challenging about this course.

Learning about Catharine McCauley was most valuable to me because she was a catholic role model. I can learn from Catharine McCauley because she gave up her time to do service. She helped by educating and giving homes to poor girls. Another thing that I found valuable to learn is about vocations because now I can understand and chose one for me. One thing that was the most challenging to learn was the 10 peaks moments because there are so many, and they are so different. Another thing that was hard to learn was the Reign of God.
