The Rise of Democracy
America moves to a more democratic society, more people started to get involved in politics specifically white men.
The Election of 1800
(Jefferson vs Adams) It’s also called the Revolution of 1800. It’s because power was able to go from Federalists to Democratic Republic.
Voting Rights Expanded
More white men were able to vote since property requirements were removed.
Andrew Jackson
He became the face of “Jacksonian Democracy” which means a government by the common man.
Economic and Technological Change (Market Revolution)
The U.S Economy goes from local farming to national farming.
This was because of new inventions and also transportations.
New Inventions
Inventions like the cotton gin, telegraph and mechanical repears. This changed agriculture and how people communicated at the time. Roads, Canals (Erie Canal). and railroads made travel and trade more accessible.
What did the North and South did?
The North was mainly focused in industralization while the south was mostly more focused on growing crops and slavery.
What happens to North, South and West
They start to develop differently.
Religious revival
A wave of this makes American create a new society.
Second Great Awaking
Encouraged people of wanting to abolish slavery, drinking, poverty, and improve education.
Abolitionism
Wanting to end slavery, people who encouraged the idea was Federick Douglas and William Lloyd Harrison.
Temperance
Decrease alchol use
Women’s Rights- Seneca Falls Convention
First major call for equality between men and women.
Education Reform
Led by Horace Mann, wanting to improve education in America and establish universities.
Prison and Aslyum Reform
Led by Dorethea Dinx, improving how pirsons are managed since they would be very harsh and there will also be excecutions in front of many and were very extreme, and the aslyums would also treat the mental health issue so poorly.
Expanding the nation
USA started to grow in size and had to deal with the expansion going on to the west.
Louisiana Purchase
Buys Louisiana from France, Jefferson buys it.

They explored new lands in the U.S

The Idea of USA was meant to move West started to grow between America.
Slavery when more territories were added
Slavery and the topic of it started to create more drama, some people were for slavery while others were against it.

U.S Wanted to protect its identity and its place globally

A war between USA and Britain, this was over trade and there wasnt a clear winner but it did boost America’s nationalism.

USA now makes it known that Europe needs to stay away from the Americas making sure they have most global power.
Growth of American Identity
This was through art, liteatures, and pride in democracy.
Trail of Tears / Indian Removal Act
The force removal of the Native Americans of their land, it was brutal for them they went through a lot.
