Descriptive Statistics
Statistics that summarize characteristics of a population or sample.
Inferential Statistics
Statistics that make inferences from a sample to the population.
Frequencies
Counts of occurrences of values in a dataset.
Cross-Tabs
A method for observing the relationship between two categorical variables.
Central Tendency
A measure that determines a central or average value.
Dispersion
The extent to which a distribution is stretched or squeezed.
Variance
A measure of the spread between numbers in a dataset.
Standard Deviation
A statistic that quantifies the amount of variation or dispersion in a set of values.
Coefficient of Variation
A relative measure of dispersion expressed as a percentage.
Skewness
The measure of the asymmetry of the probability distribution of a real-valued random variable.
Kurtosis
A descriptor of the shape of the distribution's tails in relation to its overall shape.
Frequency Polygon
A continuous line representing the frequencies of scores within class intervals.
Histogram
A graphical representation of the distribution of numerical data.
Mode
The value that appears most frequently in a data set.
Median
The middle value in a data set when it is ordered.
Mean
The average of a set of values, calculated by taking the sum and dividing by the number of values.
Outliers
Values that are significantly higher or lower than the rest of the data.
Inter-Quartile Range (IQR)
A measure of statistical dispersion representing the difference between the upper and lower quartiles.
Platykurtic
A distribution with flat tails, implying a lower peak.
Mesokurtic
A distribution with tails similar to a normal distribution.
Leptokurtic
A distribution with heavy tails, indicating a sharper peak.
