khumur plural of what which means what

Khimar, , which is the scarf women used to cover their heads.

30
New cards

This is because in pre-Islamic times, women used to cover

their heads but let the scarf ends hang in the back, leaving the neck, ears and upper chest area exposed. Part of their hair would also be left showing

31
New cards

why thsi revealed? i.e what did women used to do

why thsi revealed? i.e what did women used to do

The women in Jahiliya, pre-Islamic times, used to wear anklets with bells on them. They would then walk in a certain way to cause the bells to jingle. This was done to draw attention of men to themselves. it was provocative and attention seeking and not befitting of a modest muslim

He gave a piece of it to me and said, `Use one part of it for your shirt, and give the rest of it to your wife for a wrapper, but tell her that she should stitch another piece of cloth on the inner side so that the body may not be displayed through it." (Abu Da'ud).

40
New cards

This aya encourages that

all single males and females be married off.

41
New cards

Slave owners were encouraged to

find spouses for those among their slaves that have the right personality and disposition to be married.

42
New cards

slaves to be married should have what

capable of handling responsibilities of marriage

43
New cards

It is not guaranteed that a person will become enriched if they get married, but Allah (SWT) does not want marriages to be stopped due to

restricted monetary reasons alone.

44
New cards

If a pious, righteous, upstanding man asks for a woman’s hand, her parents should not refuse him based on

his limited income

45
New cards

A man should not postpone getting married if he’s found a righteous woman to marry solely due

financial reasons only

46
New cards

A marriage could lead to a situation where

the husband and wife each play a role in improving the overall financial situation. The husband could become more responsible, the wife could help manage the household budget or work and contribute financially.

47
New cards

The previous aya instructed the single people who were able to get married to do so. This aya tells those who must remain single at the moment, due to financial constraints or not finding anyone to marry, that they must

take measures to protect themselves from engaging in any haram relationships or acts to satisfy their desires.

48
New cards

advice of prophe tto help against urges

fast

49
New cards

The next thing this aya says to do is allow those slaves, who are able and want to earn their freedom, to do so with a

written and legal contract. The slave and owner should come to an agreement as to how much the slave must pay to buy their freedom and this contract should be honored. The process should be made as smooth as possible. The owner was encouraged to lessen the amount owed to make it easier.

50
New cards

Islam made freeing a slave a way to

expiate sins and earn great reward for the Hereafter

51
New cards

A part of the Zakat collected was used by the Islamic government to

free slaves (causing slavery to slowly eradicate)

52
New cards

The third matter this aya addresses is forcing who to what? what is the ruling on that? for the master and the slave? what if the slave does it on her own accord?

slave girls into prostitution. Slave owners in pre-Islamic times would do this to earn money. This aya FORBIDS such a practice and says the one who forces the slave girls to do this will be held accountable and not the slave girls. The girls will be forgiven. If the slave girl engages of her own accord, then she alone will be held accountable.

53
New cards

Any money earned by way of prostitution is deemed

unlawful.

54
New cards

The Qur’an also contains stories of those who came before who met their doom because they disobeyed Allah’s clear commands. This is a

severe warning for the believers not to follow in their footsteps.

55
New cards

This surah, from its beginning, contains commandments that bring reform to the Muslim society which were needed to

purify it and remove potential for indecency.

56
New cards

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. (ayat noor)

Allah is the means by which all of the universe can be seen for what it really is. He is the source of physical light (sun, moon, stars) and the light of guidance (removes the darkness of ignorance and misguidance).

57
New cards

The example of His Light is like a niche within which is a lamp.

The niche is the chest. What is meant by lamp is the part that is lit to produce the light. (Like the wick dipped in oil in old lamps). Allah (SWT) places the ruh/soul/spirit inside each person and it yearns for Allah. This is the potential light inside every person. This is their fitra.

58
New cards

The lamp is within glass.

The ruh/soul/spirit is inside the heart. The glass surrounding the source of light (the wick) is the heart.

59
New cards

The glass looks like a brilliant star.

The glass is super clean, clear and sparkling. Glass in this state allows light to get out and light from outside to get in. When the light shines through it, it looks like a brilliantly bright star in the night. The heart of the believer is this clear, clean glass.

60
New cards

It is lit by (the oil of) a blessed tree, the olive, which is neither eastern nor western.

The fuel for the lamp is from a blessed (has many beneficial uses) olive tree which grows out in the open where the sun can reach it at all times. A tree that grows in these conditions produces the finest oil. This oil, when lit, produces the brightest of lights.

61
New cards

Its oil almost gives light even when no fire touches it.

This oil is of such high quality that it appears to shimmer and give off light without being ignited. This top quality oil which fuels the ruh inside the heart is the Qur’an. The ruh is a heavenly creature and can only be nourished by something from heaven. Iman is replenished by the Qur’an.

62
New cards

.light upon L

The light of the Qur’an meets the light of the ruh.

63
New cards

Allah guides to His Light whomever He wills.

Allah (SWT) will always help the one who is sincere in their search for the truth.

64
New cards

And Allah presents examples/parables for the people.

Allah (SWT) is the best Teacher. He uses many different ways to convey His message to human beings. Striking parables in the Qur’an is one of them.

65
New cards

what does it mean Allah ordered his houses to be raised

buildings be respected and kept in high esteem (

66
New cards

what does it mean that His name is mentioned and He is remembered in these houses

(in any type of prayer, duaa, dhikr, recitation of the Qur’an, lectures about Islam and the Shariah, sermons, etc.).

67
New cards

“[by] men whom neither commerce nor sale distracts from the remembrance of Allāh and performance of prayer and giving of zakāh. They fear a Day in which the hearts and eyes will [fearfully] turn about.”

why was this ayah revea;ed

Abdullah ibn Umar (rA) reported that this aya was revealed in praise of the Sahaba who would instantly leave their business transactions and close their shops when the athan was called so they could hurry to the masjid to pray. (Specifically: a general trader who would stop in the middle of weighing and a blacksmith who would stop in mid-swing of his hammer and not even strike the hot metal he was shaping into a sword).

68
New cards

Allah (SWT) only bestows His Guiding Light and bounties on the deserving ones:

4 qualities

  • have love, awe, hope and fear in Allah

  • Continue to remember him

  • focused on the next life and not this one

    • striving to reach high levels

69
New cards

What is the reward for those people who are given the light and bounty

Allah (SWT) looks for the act they did that was the best quality and recompenses them according to that!!!!! Then on top of that He gives them even more from His own favor!!! And He gives provision (worldly and spiritual) WITHOUT LIMITS!!!!
