seismic waves
happen after a earthquake
when the seismic waves hit a boundary/ two different materials in Earth they either… or …
refract or absor
when they refract they will
gradually change speed and curve
the more abrupt the change in property the more
sharp curve
there are two waves which are
s waves and p waves
p wave properties
faster than s waves, can travel in liquids and gas ,longitudinal
s waves properties
slower than p waves, transverse, cannot travel and liquid and gas
as s waves cannot travel in liquid they curve away and out from which earth layer
outer core
as p waves can travel through liquids they can go all the way and be detected at
bottom of Earth
