Time- specified scheduling
appts are scheduled at a specific time
aka single booking scheduling, stream scheduling, fixed appt scheduling
Wave scheduling
goal to always have a wave of pts arriving to be seen
schedule several pts at the same time increment and pts are seen in order of arrival

Modified wave scheduling
pts scheduled at intervals within the half hour
certain types of appts may be scheduled in the first half hour like a regular wave and the second half is allotted for last minute appts or smth else
Double Booking
Can be used if one or more provider is available
Can be used if pt needs to see 2 different people
ie. provider and technician
Clustering
aka categorization
arranges the schedule based on needs
ex. blood draws in the morning, EKGs in the afternoon
Organizes staff and equipment in an efficient manor
Inventory
Controlled substances should be signed off by more than one person
Inventory needs will vary base on specialty, pt demographic, and provider preference
Supplies that can expire should be date-checked and ordered regularly.
