(There are 5 types of bones in the human body. These are long bones, short bones, flatbones, irregular bones and sesmoid bones. Each long bone has an elongated shaft or diaphysis and two expanded ends (epiphyses) which are smooth and articular. (Irregular bones in the body are these which do not fall into any other category, due to their non-uniform shape.
