Histology
study of tissues
“MICROSCOPIC ANATOMY”
-study of tissues
-Many diseases are diagnosed at the tissue level
What are tissues made from?
Tissues are made of cells and extracellular material
-all tissues arise from stem cells
-Hematoxylin stains the nucleus purple and eosin colors cytoplasm pink
Why is histology important ?
Many diseases are diagnosed on the tissue level
What are Stem cells?
-unspecialized and undifferentiated cells that have the ability to produce more stem cells
Four types of tissue
Connective
Epithelial
Nervous
Muscular
What is the Epithelial tissue?
squamos,cuboidal, columnar, simple and stratified
Epithelial slides
Simple squamos
simple columunar
simple cuboidal
pseudostratified columnar
stratified squamous
transitional epithelium
Muscular Tissue
Smooth
Skeletal
Cardiac
Connective Tissue
adpose tissue
Epithelial Tissue
squamos
cuboidal
columunar
simple
stratified
Simple Epithelium
Simple Squamous epithelium lines the air sacs and blood vessels
Endothelium
simple squamos epithelium of blood vessels
Mesothelium
surface layer of many membranes
Simple Cuboidal Epithelium
-these cells form many major glands and glandular organs of the body
-sceretion of fluids(sweat and oil)
Simple Columanr Epithelium
=mucus secretion goblet cells
-uterine tubes
Pseudostratified columunar
-rests on respiratory passage
Stratified squamos Epithelium
vaginal canal and mouth
