truman doctrine
Policy established by president Harry S. Truman. It stated that the U.S. would provide economic, military and political support to countries being threatened by communism.
marshall plan
U.S. program that provided financial support to rebuild countries that had been affected by WW2 and prevent the spread of communism in Europe.

a campaign led by senator Joseph McCarthy against the alleged communists in the country.

an increase in birthrates after WW2 that led to a population increase. More housing had to be built during this time which helped better the economy.
