Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
- Screen type used on many laptops today.
- Lightweight, uses little power, and inexpensive.
- Difficult to repair or replace
TN (Twisted Nematic) LCD
- The original LCD technology
- Has fast response times but poor viewing angles
IPS (In Plane Switching) LCD
- Has excellent color representation
- This LCD is more expensive to produce
VA (Vertical Alignment) LCD
- A good compromise between the rest of the LCD technologies.
- Good color representation but slower response times
Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED)
- Organic compound that emits light when receiving an electric current
- Thinner, lighter, and no backlight
- Found on tablets, phones, and smart watches
Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL)
- Found on older laptops and is no longer a common backlight
- Has added thickness to the display
- Needs higher voltage and power
LED-backlit LCD display
- An LCD display with an array of LEDS behind the screen
- Found on the latest laptops
