Stiffness of Bonding
slope of linear region of bonding is the elastic modulus of the material (stiff = steep slope = higher elastic modulus)

Curvature
smaller radius of curvature (narrow) = greater curvature = greater stiffness

Energy Barrier
the amount of energy (temperature) required to break the bonds that hold the solid together

Coefficient of Thermal Expansion
average bond distance increases with increasing temperature; deeper potential energy wells are more symmetric and have lower CTE
