Minotaur
Athens was forced to sacrifice young people to the Minotaur in Crete. Theseus volunteered to kill the monster and used Ariadne's thread to escape the Labyrinth. The story teaches that courage and planning solve difficult problems.
Odyssey
After the Trojan War, Odysseus tried to return home to Ithaca. His cleverness helped him survive, but his pride angered Poseidon and made his journey take ten years longer. The story teaches that pride has consequences.
Trojan Horse
The Greeks could not defeat Troy after ten years of fighting. Odysseus came up with the idea of the Trojan Horse, tricking the Trojans into bringing Greek soldiers inside their city. The story teaches that intelligence and strategy can overcome problems that strength cannot.
Heracles
As punishment, Heracles had to complete the Twelve Labors, which were nearly impossible tasks. He succeeded through strength, determination, and clever thinking. The story teaches that perseverance leads to success.
